Care for your brakes

Changing your brakes regularly helps give you added peace of mind. So, how can you tell if they‘re worn out?

The best way is to get your brakes inspected at a Ford dealership, but there are signs you can look for. Do they squeal or make grinding sounds? Does your steering wheel shake? If you have noticed any of these signs, it could be time to change your brake-pad. We recommend you book an inspection immediately.

All brakes wear out eventually, but good driving habits can prevent premature wear.

So, be kind to your brakes:

  • whenever possible close to a stop, don’t brake suddenly if you can help it.
  • Always keep a safe distance behind traffic to avoid slamming on your brakes, the more often you brake hard the faster your brakes will wear out.
  • And watch out for dashboard icon "!" when your hand brake is on, but if your hand brakes is off and you still see it, there could be a problem with your brakes.

If in doubt, visit a Ford service center for brake check-up. When Ford technician inspects your brakes, what are they looking for exactly?

  • First, they check your brake-pads for pad wear, too thin means it’s time for change.
  • They also inspect brake disc for rough spots including gouges, scrapes, cracks and warping

A brake inspection is the best way to know for sure if your brakes are worn out. So play it safe, just schedule an appointment with our expert technicians who know your Ford better than anyone.
